Dangers of high heels

Dangers of high heels
British researchers claim they managed to uncover the cause of women who often wear high heels to feel pain when wearing flat soled shoes.Examination of the calf muscles of women high heels users find that the calf muscle fibers shortened an average of 13% compared to those who do not wear high heels. In a study published in The Journal of Experimental Biology was also found that high heels causes calf tendons tend to harden.Experts pointed to the adverse effects of high heels can be reduced by using flat soled shoes or doing stretching exercises.
Lead researcher Marco Narici Profeson from Manchester Metropolitan University said that in the decade of the 1950's the secretaries who wore high heels to say they have trouble walking normally when not wearing high heels. However, at that time no one saw it as interference in the muscles.Of a group of 80 women, the researchers chose 11 volunteers who regularly wear shoes with heels 5 cm for two years or more who feel uncomfortable when walking without her high heels.MRI scan results showed that there was no difference in the size of the calf muscles of the user's heels and the women who do not wear high heels. However, ultrasound scans revealed that the calf muscle fibers of the woman using high heels shorter than those who wear flat soled shoes.Stiff calfHigh heels can affect your calf musclesWhen the women were asked to lie on a couch, the researchers noticed that the angle of heel that is the main cause of shortening of muscle fibers of the calf.At the end of the study, the researchers found that users of the muscle tendon heels are thicker and stiffer than those who choose flat soled shoes. This condition, said Professor Narici, making discomfort when walking without high heels because the calf muscle tendon just can not stretch. However, Narici think, women will not necessarily abandon their high heels."Although fashion has the potential to create discomfort but none of the women we surveyed are planning to leave their high heels," says Narici."We want to provide practical advice and I would like to recommend that they do little stretching exercises to combat muscle these changing conditions," added Narici. One tip that may be useful, says Narici, is tiptoes up the stairs and use handrails to maintain balance. Furthermore, they lowered their heels as low as possible before raising it again.A physiotherapist and spokesperson for the Community Physiotherapist Sammy Margo Licensed said the study results support the notion that has long existed in the minds of the physiotherapist."The advice we can give is to wear a variety of shoes for the calf muscles to keep working through a variety of movements," says Margo.
